TRESEMMÉ / THE REVERSE WASH

By this stage in life, you've likely mastered your shower routine. For myself, it's: shampoo, rinse, condition, and tend to all other shower tasks (aka sing, dance, and waste time basking in it's warmth) prior to the conclusion; a final rinse to remove any excess conditioner. However the folks at TRESemmé are making waves in shower routines across the globe with their latest innovation, TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume, a new collection that is quickly popularizing reverse hair washing.

Intended for those who crave volume/were cursed with fine, lifeless hair, this collection reverses the traditional haircare routine in order to unveil hair that is full of volume, body, and bounce. The concept: condition first to soften, then shampoo to wash away weight. The problem is that not all shampoos/conditioners are formulated with this theory in mind, and therefore implementing reverse washing with your current products can lead to unsavoury results. But thankfully, the TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume collection makes reverse washing fool-proof with a Pre-Wash Conditioner($6), Volume Shampoo($6), and Hair Maximizer($8) formulated to build volume.

On my first day testing this line I equipped my shower playlist with DJ Casper - Cha Cha Slide; the confusion felt when Reverse Reverse is shouted is similar to that felt when reverse washing, making this my personal theme song when using the TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume collection. That said, the routine is a simple one to follow: condition, tend to all other shower tasks (aka sing, dance, and waste time basking in it's warmth), rinse, shampoo, rinse. The fruity aroma found in both the conditioner and shampoo fill the shower, while the formula, created with FlexiMax Volumizers and Fiber Polishing Actives, works to moisturize hair without weighing it down. Upon exiting the shower I noticed that my hair was slightly more difficult to comb through compared to the days I use Good Day Hair Shop products, however a small dollop of the Hair Maximizer quickly solved this issue. I continued blow-drying and styling my hair as I typically would, however when I saw the voluminous results that were achieved I decided to take styling one step further and curl my hair. Given that I had never previously seen my hair exhibit so much body I was determined to make the most of it. I was also in awe of the shine my hair showcased thanks to this collection as I had only ever achieved those results using Good Day Hair Shop products.

But in the end the results weren't substantial enough to influence a complete haircare routine update, most likely because the shampoo contains sulfates; instead, I'll turn to the TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume line on days I want added volume or have the inkling to curl. Those who haven't settled into a haircare routine, or have fine hair should definitely hit the showers with this collection though, as the results do not disappoint.
