La Flame

My love for nail art was reignited this week after multiple people re-tweeted a nail art design I had re-created from The Beauty Department, which I had shared on my former blog, The Pretty Vain. The original post, unfortunately, has since been deleted, along with much of my early blog content. But the tweet was a wonderful reminder to take a stab at the world of nail art once again.

I'm by no means a nail art expert, or even moderately steady with my hands, but I'm pretty stoked on the outcome of this blue flame nail design, and will definitely pick up the paint brush again.

The flame idea came about because I quite honestly cannot stop listening to the Travis Scott - Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight album and 'La Flame' is not only said in multiple songs, it's the name of his documentary. I initially went for a red, orange and yellow design but after a failed attempt with the Sally Hansen I Heart Nail Art Pens, I turned to my polish stash. Here's how to get the amateur blue flame design I created:

How-To: Blue Flame Nail Art

Step 1: Paint nails with 2 thick coats of Essie Nail Polish in Licorice. Let dry.
Step 2: Paint thin flames with a small paint brush/eyeliner brush and OPI Reach for The Sky*.
Step 3: Repeat Step 2 inside original flame using Essie No Place Like Chrome and OPI I Believe in Manicures*.
Step 4: Seal design with a thick coat of CND Vinylux Weekly Top Coat.
