CONCEAL IT / CONCEALER FAVOURITES

There are few things worse than looking in the mirror mid-day only to notice the dark circles and/or blemishes you thought you had properly concealed that morning have re-appeared. To ensure that you're doing everything in your power to minimize and hide these flaws all day long, I've rounded up my five favourite concealers so that you too can banish your dark circles and/or blemishes for good.

FOR UNDER EYES

When it comes to concealing the under eye area there are few products that I consider truly effective, comfortable, and long-lasting. In fact, I've had such a difficult time sourcing an under-eye concealer, one of the two products I'm recommending doesn't even hit stores until June 15th. That product would be the Too Faced Born This Way Concealer ($39), which has already received rave reviews thanks to it's similarity to the brand's Born This Way Foundation. The formula, a proprietary blend of color correctors and complexion-enhancing ingredients, is unbelievably creamy and therefore blends into the skin with ease delivering flawless yet invisible coverage. Plus, the beneficial ingredients this concealer contains ensures that you are fixing the problem area while covering it. These complexion-enhancers include: Coconut Water to replenish moisture levels, Alpine Rose to brighten and boost radiance, and Hyaluronic Acid to deliver a smoother, more youthful appearance. The end result is a heavily hydrated under-eye area that is free of dark circles, fine lines and wrinkles.

I've also thoroughly enjoyed using the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Concealer ($27), which was released earlier this year after the introduction of 4K technology to our phones and other miscellaneous electronics. The Ultra HD Concealer is another creamy, light-weight concealer, which blends with ease into the under eye area, delivering weightless results. It's formulated with Lamellar Structure Pigments, which reflect and diffuse light, erasing under eye shadows and blurring imperfections; an Anti-Dark Circle Complex comprised of Green Algae and Amino Acids to conceal and correct, alongside a radiance booster made up of Asian Berry Extract, which facilitates the production of collagen, in turn brightening and smoothing skin; and finally a 3D elastomer gel to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. At the end of the day this innovative formula results in an under eye area free of dark circles, whether you're in person or connecting via wifi.

FOR COMPLEXION

Then there are the concealers meant to hide blemishes, scars, and hype-pigmentation – AKA the heavy-hitters of coverage. These products typically feature a consistency that is thicker than a foundation, and much heavier than the under eye products shown above. Given their consistency I wouldn't recommend using them for the under eyes as their weight will cause pre-mature aging –something I'd personally like to prevent. But with that said they do a wonderful job at hiding any blemish and/or scars that might develop – and trust me, they will develop; at age 26 I still endure pimples around that time of the month. The Make Up For Ever Full Cover Concealer ($34), a long-lasting, oil-free concealer that delivers a matte finish, was one of the first concealers I came to love. And it remains one of my favourites to this day thanks to it's ability to cover imperfections without producing a caked-on effect. As a side, I totally used to mix the Full Cover Concealer with my eye cream to create an under eye concealer before the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Concealer came along.

I also have a big thing for the Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer ($48), which I was turned onto thanks to Rae from The Notice and Jenn from Procrastinating Pretty. This is truly one of the most universal products I own, doing everything from concealing a blemish, to hiding tattoos, to becoming a full-blown foundation when mixed with a moisturizer. Infused with Jojoba and Honey, it hydrates the skin, while the mineral pigments help support the skin and remain sweat and transfer proof. If there is one concealer from this point to own it is without a doubt the Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer.

FOR EVERYWHERE ELSE

Finally, with summer basically underway, I like to be prep my bag with a concealer that matches my body-tone in case I need to touch up/hide any bruises or scars that might've developed from the adventurous days and nights that summer brings. This year that concealer has been the Rodial Airbrush Concealer, which I was sent by a PR company in a shade far too dark for my face. Instead of tossing it into my stash where it would inevitably go unused I began using it to conceal my legs pre-photoshoots to deliver an airbrushed effect. A little goes along way with this wax-based concealer, and touch-ups throughout the day are rare thanks to it's non-transferable formula.

It would appear that I'm not the only one addicted to the above options; a quick internet search reveals that the editors at Into The Gloss featured two of my favourites in their article The Best Concealers, and seemingly the beauty-editors at Elle and Glamour Magazine agree.

Do you agree? Are any of these your favourite concealers?
If not what product do you use? Let me know in the comment section below.
