KATY PERRY / KATY KAT COLLECTION
It goes without saying that whenever Katy Perry gets her hands on something it's bound to be brilliant. So with that said I was ecstatic to hear that she would be releasing a range of demi-matte lipsticks and two mascaras in collaboration with Covergirl. I got my first look at the collection at an event held by Covergirl last month, in which Veronica Chu, Covergirls lead MUA, introduced us to the collection through a live model demonstration. After we were shown three stunning looks created using the collection myself, other bloggers and magazine editors alike then had the chance to play with the collection, hop in the photo booth, and have our own lip art created by Covergirl MUA's. The event was a lot of fun, but it's the collection itself that still has me buzzing.
The Katy Kat Matte Lipsticks ($7.99) are available in a range of eleven shades and feature a demi-matte finish. When asked by Vogue in a recent interview why she chose a demi-matte finish she replied: 'because sometimes mattes can make you look like you haven’t drank water in two weeks. Obviously you don’t want scabby lips just because you want your lipstick to stay forever! You want to look hydrated.' Damn straight, babygirl. The decision to give these lipstick a demi-matte finish was smart and is what makes them so lust-worthy; well, that, and the fact that the eleven shades are unique for a drugstore brand. Each shade applies with ease, delivering a pigmented swatch with every swipe, which lasts for 3-4hours of wear. The demi-matte finish and inclusion of shea-butter in the formula make these lipsticks extremely comfortable to wear, similar to that of a lip balm.
Accompanying the lipsticks are two Katy Kat Eye Mascaras ($8.99) in Very Black and Perry Blue, which will be released in July. The mascaras features a twisted wand, which is great to lengthen and separate lashes. A tip from Veronica Chu: twist the brush while combing through the lashes for best results. Although I'm already impressed with the colours, and the effect the mascara delivered to the model's lashes at the event, I haven't had a chance to properly test the mascaras and therefore will be sharing my thoughts on Twitter closer to the release.

It's always hard to nail down favourites with a collection as stunning as this one, but if I had to choose four to wear infinitely, it'd be: Sphynx, Catoure, Kitty Purry, and of course, Perry Panther.
Have you tried the Katy Kat Collection yet? What are a few of your favourite shades?
