There was once a time I religiously followed each and every limited edition collection that MAC Cosmetics released. However, after being inundated by what felt like bi-weekly releases I could no longer invest my time, nor money, in shades that could be found within their permanent line-up. So needless to say, it came as quite a shock when one of their latest releases contained a lipstick that I simply couldn't walk away from. Side note: I say latest, but this was released in March and there have since been nine additional collections... MAC needs to slow their roll.

The MAC Mineralize Rich Lipstick in Ionized($28), hails from the Future MAC collection and is described as a “metallic silver”. With a sheer silver tone and luminous finish it truly is unlike any lipstick found within my current collection. I was instantly drawn to the colour in the bullet, however it was it's ability to transform my presently owned lipsticks that sold me. In terms of wear this lipstick applies evenly, lasting three hours before I need a touch up, longer if it's layered atop a matte shade, which is to be expected with the Mineralize Rich Lipsticks as they are quite moisturizing.

The colour is rather flattering alone, transforming to a pale lilac/silver when applied against the pink tones in my natural lip colour, however as I mentioned above it can also be layered. I personally love to layer it atop a nude lipstick, as this creates a shade similar to cult favourite Stone Lipstick, however it also works wonders against colours. Thus far my favourite colour combination has been Ionized layered on top of Stila Liquid Lipstick in Como, which produces the prettiest muted violet you ever did see.

If you haven't yet had a chance to check out this collection I would definitely recommend popping into your local MAC to check out Ionized Lipstick, at the very least.

Would you wear this lip colour solo? Or only paired atop another lipstick?
