PIXI SKINTREATS / GLOW + GIVEAWAY [CLOSED]

PIXI SKINTREATS / GLOW + GIVEAWAY [CLOSED]

The glow-ier, the better – that's been my philosophy when it comes to skincare/beauty since I began delving into the world of makeup five years ago, and it would appear that it isn't changing anytime soon. Even when the current trend is matte skin, I want mine to be glowing, luminous and bright. So it came as a surprise that I hadn't heard the hype surrounding the Pixi Skintreats Glow Tonic and Glowtion Day Dew until just a few months ago.

I stumbled upon the Glow Tonic To-Go($25 CAD) pads in my skincare stash earlier last month and decided to give them a go after reading a bunch of reviews on the original Glow Tonic($30 CAD). Formulated with ginseng & fructose, this toner helps to firm and tighten skin, all while removing dead skin cells thanks to the inclusion of glycolic acid-5%. Although some exfoliating toners can be harsh, the Glow Tonic is alcohol-free and contains aloe vera to calm this skin – a blessing for those with sensitive and normal skin alike. The results are certainly not immediate, but definitely noticeable after a month of use. My skin is visibly brighter and boasts a more even-tone, and I've even been able to avoid the use of granule-based exfoliators, which in my opinion is a great success. The Glow Tonic To-Go is great for travel, and includes 60pads, however it' the original Glow Tonic I'll be purchasing when I run out simply because you get more bang for your buck.

I've also been really into the Pixi Glowtion Day Dew($40 CAD), a skincare and makeup product all wrapped into one. First and foremost, it's a cream-based hydrating moisturizer, however, it's formulated with mica, a mineral often included in beauty products, which provides a subtle opalescence. This means it can be used as an all-over moisturizer to provide a subtle lit-from-within glow, or as a strobing cream to highlight the cheekbones, browbone and down the center of the nose. I tend to use it as a strobing cream more often than not, and have become a bit obsessed with the insane highlight it produces – just peep the swatch below! The only thing I'd change about this products is the scent. Since it's formulated with Lavender oil to help soothe skin there is a definite lavender aroma that simply doesn't sit well with me. But luckily it fades within minutes and all I'm left with is an ethereally lit complexion – not such a bad trade off.

One thing to note: women truly do go crazy for this stuff, so much so that it's often sold out in stores and online, so when it is available it's best to stock up!
