OLE HENRIKSEN / POWER BRIGHT FACIAL EXPERIENCE
Earlier this month I was invited to The Glass Factory, a contemporary event space hidden in West Queen West, to preview the latest from Ole Henriksen; a revolutionary at-home brightening facial treatment. Ole Henriksen himself was present to introduce us to the POWER Bright treatment ($66), a three-step professional-strength system inspired by the POWER Peel, one of the most requested treatments at his spa. What sets the POWER Bright system apart from other at-home facial products is it's revolutionary formula, which features an unprecedented 25% Vitamin C for instant and dramatic results. Vitamin C is renowned for it's antioxidant properties, which help to promote anti-aging, reduce brown spots and discolouration, and boost collagen production resulting in firmer skin. After just a single treatment with the POWER Bright system skin appears noticeably more radiant, smooth, firm and luminous, boasting the signature Ole Glow.
Upon my arrival at the event I was gifted a customized Ole Henriksen robe and headband to wear throughout the treatment. Once settled into my newfound spa attire, I grabbed a glass of freshly pressed juice and was introduced to Ole Henriksen, who further educated me on the treatment and brand before insisting we hit the photo-booth. His passion and love for the brand were apparent throughout our talk, and even as I watched him interact with other bloggers and magazine editors, his energy remained high, and he spoke with a sense of pride in regards to the products he had created. And rightfully so, by the end of our 30-minute chat I was ready to pile the entire line-up of Ole Henriksen products into my purse. However instead, I was introduced to my facialist, Christina, who quickly removed my makeup so that we could begin the main event, the POWER Bright treatment.
THE EVENT
THE TREATMENT
As mentioned above the POWER Bright treatment ($66) consists of three steps, and therefore three products: the Truth Sugar Glow Polishing Mask, Truth 25% Vitamin C Concentrate, and Pure Truth Melting Cleanser. Of the products included in the treatment the Truth Sugar Glow Polishing Mask($55) and Pure Truth Melting Cleanser($42) are available for purchase separately, however the brawn of this facial, the Truth 25% Vitamin C Concentrate is exclusive to the set. Within the POWER Bright kit these products can be found in three separate single-use pods, labelled step 1, 2, and 3, making this treatment easy to follow. With a total of six individual treatments per box, each POWER Bright kit will provide a month and a half of radiant skin when used once/week.
Christina began by applying the Truth Sugar Glow Polishing Mask in circular motions on my freshly cleansed skin. The Truth Sugar Glow Polishing Mask has a noticeably thick texture, similar to that of the honey it's been enriched with, and an intoxicating orange scent. I could feel the raw sugar and pomegranate seed powder exfoliating away the dead skin cells, however the exfoliation wasn't harsh in the slightest. Christina then removed the Truth Sugar Glow Polishing Mask using the complexion sponges provided to reveal a smooth surface for the Truth 25 percent vitamin C concentrate to be applied to. This treatment was then left on the skin for 5-10 minutes while Christina and I discussed the heavenly orange scent the POWER Bright treatment contains and the wonders it does for the skin. She once again reiterated that this is the highest level of Vitamin C approved for at-home use, and is the first product of it's kind to feature a professional-strength concentrate. She also reassured me that despite it's high concentration of Vitamin C this treatment can still be used by those with sensitive skin.
Finally, without removing the Truth 25 percent Vitamin C Concentrate, the Pure Truth Melting Cleanser was layered on top to help activate it. Christina applied the cleanser in circular motions, which creates a warm, tingling sensation that reminds you the product is working hard to produce radiant results and feels rather soothing. This step is in my opinion the most luxurious, thanks to the Pure Truth Melting Cleanser, which features a unique gel-like formula that helps to nourish skin with vitamin C, cherry seed, and rose hip seed oils. The cleanser and concentrate are then rinsed away using the POWER Bright complexion sponges provided, revealing soft, supple skin featuring the lust-worthy Ole Glow. Christina completed the treatment by applying the Truth Serum Vitamin C Collagen Booster($60), a mixture of the Sheer Transformation Moisturizer($48) and Pure Truth Vitamin C Youth Activating Oil($56), and a spritz of the Truth Facial Water($28).
The results were seen immediately after the treatment was completed. My skin was noticeably brighter with a more even toned complexion. It also smelled of citrus, which was uplifting and definitely appreciated. The only thing to note is that I experienced a bit of peeling around my cheeks the day after the treatment took place. My skin is far from sensitive so it leaves me to wonder how those with sensitive skin faired after the treatment. With that said I would recommend only using this treatment once every two weeks to give skin ample time to rest.
